Gigs coming up!

Yes, we've been a bit absent recently... being adults sucks sometimes! But we're back at it again, with at least a couple of gigs this year and maybe recording too. More details to come, mark these dates on your calendar:

Saturday, May 12 - we'll be playing at the Railway Club in Vancouver, opening the night for the Wonderful Diving Horses EP release party. WDH are a fantastic Vancouver roots/Paisley Underground-style band.

Week of August 27 - we'll be back at the Railway Club playing the Vancouver International Pop Overthrow Festival for the third year in row! We'll likely be sharing the stage again with our good friends and contemporaries, the Touch & Gos. Check this page for the specific date once it's set.

Here's a clip from our Victoria Logan's Pub gig from last year to tide you over...

We'll see you soon!

Merry Christmas everyone!

All the best of the season to you and your loved ones! We posted this last year, too, but now we've concocted a cheap video as well, our one and only seasonal song. A rare Eric Lowe/Colin Macrae collaboration.

Labour Day weekend and IPO is coming soon!

Time flies and our next show is coming very soon -- Saturday, September 3rd at the Railway Club in Vancouver. We're once again part of David Bash's Vancouver International Pop Overthrow! We'll be hitting the stage at around 10:45 pm, just ahead of the Touch & Gos reunion, which we're particularly excited about. Other bands playing our night include Go Four 3, Danny Echo and the Orchid Highway. As well, check out the other acts playing during the five-day extravaganza -- see graphic below.

Happy Canada Day!

Hope you have a great Canada Day! To help celebrate, here's our tribute to our Vancouver Island roots, our sloppy garage surf instrumental, "Highway to Parksville," from our Hogwild EP.

Next gig, International Pop Overthrow, Sept 3!

All's been a bit quiet on the Funnycars front recently and our next show is not until September 3rd at the Railway Club in Vancouver. We're pleased to be part of Mr. David Bash's Vancouver International Pop Overthrow event for the second year in a row! Thanks, David, and it'll be extra special this year as we'll be playing with our old friends from 'back in the day,' the Touch & Gos! Janis, Dave and Cara have decided to reunite and play IPO this year as well! Can't wait to hear their power pop goodness. Also playing on our night will be other great bands such as Go Four 3, Danny Echo and the Orchid Highway. But of course the whole event will be a good one. See you then and check back here for news about other upcoming gigs as they come up.

Vancouverites! Friday, May 6 at the Railway Club

We're looking forward to playing our first Vancouver gig in six months. We'll be the first of four bands on that night, so expect us to hit the stage at around 10. Expect new songs and other surprises. Hope to see you then, thanks to I.M.U. Productions for having us again!

Video for "She Becomes Unglued"

Thanks to our friend, Bob Beck, the only video that 64 Funnycars made is now on YouTube. This was shot in 1990 at the famed Marlborough house in Victoria, which Colin shared with a number of rotating roommates. The video was produced by CHEK-TV and aired a couple of times on their program Inside Trax, hosted by none other than Salt Spring Island's own Valdy--see if you can spot him in the video! While the recording of "She Becomes Unglued" features Eric Cottrell on guitar and harmony, his replacement Robin Platts got the benefit of appearing in this video. Eric C had just left to live and work in Japan; if you look carefully his cardboard cutout shows up in the video as well. And if you hung around with us at that time, chances are you're in this video too!
